Contents of the File

Ideally, population figures corresponding to the population covered showed the mid-year population in each combination of the following categories:

  • Calendar year of the registration period
  • Sex
  • Individual year of age (0, 1, 2,...19)
  • Ethnic group (optional)
  • Region (optional).

File Format

A simple text file (fixed format or comma-separated) or a spreadsheet table with one record per line was required, with the names of variables provided in the top row.

The following format of the population file was suggested for each ethnic group and each region:
